The National Emphysema Foundation is a non-profit organization duly constituted under the laws of Connecticut, and as such, all contributions are tax exempt. NEF is governed by the Board of Directors comprised of six members: physicians, businessmen and prominent community leaders. The foundation’s president is Sreedhar Nair, M.D., Clinical Professor of Medicine (ret.)at Yale University. In addition, Dr. Nair was head of the Beulah Hinds Center for Lung Studies and Health Informatics at Norwalk Hospital. Thomas Petty, M.D., Professor of Medicine at University of Colorado, a pioneer in the study and control of emphysema, serves on our medical advisory board, as does Claude L’Enfant, M.D., Director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (ret.)at the National Institutes of Health

NEF works with academic institutions and public agencies worldwide to study emphysema and heighten awareness of disease internationally.
