The National Emphysema Foundation is a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization, and all contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
NEF’s Board of Directors is comprised of physicians, businessmen and prominent community leaders. The president is Sreedhar Nair, M.D., Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale University (ret.). Dr. Nair is also Head of the Beulah Hinds Center for Lung Studies and Health Informatics at Norwalk Hospital (ret.).
Thomas Petty, MD, Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado, a pioneer in the study and control of emphysema, served on our Medical Advisory Board, as does Claude L’Enfant, MD, Director of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health (ret.). Richard Matthay, M.D. Boehringer Ingellheim Professor of Medicine at Yale University, and a leading clinical specialist and educator in emphysema also is a member of our Medical Advisory Council.
In partnership with academic institutions and public agencies worldwide, NEF works to advance understanding of emphysema, to heighten awareness of the disease internationally, and to support commitments that help reduce the devastating economic and human costs of this growing global health problem. |
